The Novoclimat standard requires a superior insulation factor than the present building code. The continuous presence of high performance insulation, from the basement to the attic, better protects the home from the cold and enables it to be more energy efficient, all at a low cost.

The walls and roof are built according to new, higher performing techniques. Not only are unpleasant air drafts eliminated, the Novoclimat standard prevents the diffusion of humidity through the walls, which, if allowed to infiltrate, could cause damage to the home. This results in a house that is easier to heat and more comfortable for the occupants.

Healthier quality of air
With Novoclimat, only laboratory tested and verified equipments are installed in the home. A heat recovery ventilator (HRV) ensures that the interior air is renewed in each habitable room. All excess humidity, unpleasant odours and contaminants are expelled directly outside.

High-performance heating system
Whether the home is heated by electricity, oil, or natural gas, Novoclimat requires the use of appliances that meet high-performance standards that also offer maximal comfort.

Free inspection
All Novoclimat homes are systematically inspected to ensure that the Novoclimat standards are respected. The final inspection is performed by a Novoclimat-accredited third-party agency and is free of charge.

A reliable infiltrometer test
In addition to the visual inspection, an infiltrometer test is performed which confirms the airtightness of the home, as well as its energy efficiency.

A reassuring certificate
A Novoclimat certificate is remitted to you once you take possession of your home. It attests that the home has been properly constructed and inspected according the Novoclimat standard.
